Artificial pancreas is at the door of insulin dependant diabetes management. I am part of those very apprehensive about the door being blast open though. You could say we had pacemakers test run so we should jump in head first, no parachute. We know it works. 

We have a solution to a simple medical problem, why are we nail biting about endorsing it. This time it won't be as simple as set and leave for 6 months though. It's a little more interactive to say the least, with a sliding scale to reference. It needs AI.

If forex robots on the net are anything to go by, we need the pope to hold the key on the AI that regulate insulin pumps. Maybe even dément him a little after him hiding the key to make sure he won’t find it again. Luck might be on our side and he hides it inside a Bible. What about the tweaks though?

I am not trying to claim a moral high ground of any sort. We have scammers everywhere, if you include even those who have nothing to protect, Drs Lanny et al. We have real doctors who are made thieves by the system. We got real doctors who have difficulty identifying with some card carrying members of the profession because of the justification of pass one pass all ANC zuma era.

If the democratically elected government don’t think being educated is basic to effecting any task at hand to the extent of hollowing out education to have enough IQ mass in their vote category, we have slid too far on this slippery ledge to turn back.

This ain’t an African failure in democracy either, US is probably slid further. They need a court to root Trump out the system as we write. God chosen nation is being led by a trigger happy Texan, approved by 20% last time a sample got tested. IQ inversely dictates how many offspring one is prepared to bear. Bad for one man one vote system. 

How can we even talk Nazi, after the invasion of Gaza and massacre of bedridden hospital patients without wondering which era and place perpetrated by who? What if Trump buys the key? He could in one swipe hypoglycemically reset the IQ of majority of the population, to match his. Hitler has just been given a lot more competition. 

Democracy will get worse if the inherent decay in IQ level is taken into consideration.

The AI pope option will come either way. AI is fed by human brain as a source, but Einstein is moderated by Mâlema without much outside influence. When are we going to mute the talking heads to hear the silent think tanks?

Deep vein thrombosis and elastic stocking

Medicine is full of contradictions. What your doctor is scratching his bald shiny head about against what's worrying the weight challenged fat lobule lying on the couch is usually miles apart. I am not talking KFC lane here. 

DVT to a doctor is pulmonary embolus in waiting. An acute cardio respiratory compromise as primary presentation with bleeding from thrombolytic treatment needed as complications. Very high mortality exercise. 

 

Most patients though are worried about their leg girth and cosmetic appearance while quieing at KFC.

The longer it stays in the leg, the longer the body can lyse the clot, provided the patient does his or her part, taking treatment to stop propagation. 

Meantime patient wants it gone yesterday, unaware the only place that such could happen is release into a cul-de-sac.

Once DVT is formed, pretty little can be done but allow the body thrombolytic system take over while we support with warfarin outpatient or heparin if can be admitted or pregnant. Cléxane helps but even that does very little to the clot in situ. 

Prevention is therefore critical.

Virchows triad has been the cornerstone pathophysiology since Adam and Eve got snared. 

Blood has to be kept flowing. It is pumped out to body by the heart. Nothing pumps it back though. The active calf muscle action is the only indirect saving grace. Without that activity leg elevation above heart level comes to rescue, that is if you don't have a wooden spoon wielding wife on watch.

 

The other two legs of this preventative triad is the consistency of the blood and quality of the endothelium, both of which you don't have that much active control over unless you have cult based principles edging you closer to your grave. 

We are by nature not allowed to dictate against cults, so we will stay with the flow first leg. 

Planes, economy class planes to be specific are bad for people with any risk of DVTs. Not only don't you have space to move, wooden spoons are everywhere.

Dehydration which under normal circumstances can be quenched with a drink gets a little more difficult within planes, more so if you have to buy the water at prices that should be criminal if jurisdiction could be found.

Not much chance of you seeing the DVT in time to blame the airline either. The perpetrator will claim ignorance in a week. 

Your only solution would therefore be to wear your preventative elastic stockings every time inactivity of any sort is anticipated.

 

Oral contraception including estrogen supplements, weight challenge, dehydration, trauma, polycythemia, vasculitis, Chrons' disease... should probably be added to complete the list.
