Insulin, sugar and fat relationship in your body

The incidence of buffalo shaped women and men trotting the sidewalk in western countries is skyrocketing. The poor souls probably think it’s their eating habits at fault, but essentially they are sick and unlike obesity in general they have a condition called insulin resistance.  Doctors are stressed and will normally take random blood glucose off you and if normal as expected send you packing after telling you how irresponsible you have been to waste his/her precious time when he/she could be curing TB and HIV.

The real problem in insulin resistance is the normal glucose combination with the high insulin. This is what gives you your rounded waistline.  What is even more shocking is that a waist line measurement greater than 35/40 inch for women and men respectively is associated with double the mortality rate. 
It is therefore not only ugly, it is deadly as well.
Diabetic patient, say insulin dependent will be a lot thinner because though the blood sugar is high; his/her cellular sugar is low as there is no insulin to let it cross into the cell.
Lack of insulin cuts off any fat production, in fact it signals fat destruction from your belt line to replace sugar as the source of energy.
Atkins exploited this very fact in the way his infamous diet worked.
Being a doctor though I am expected to cause no harm so I won’t mention this again in case somebody uses it the wrong way.

The solution is multiple. The food you eat should have glycemic index number pinned onto the label. The higher the index the higher the resultant glucose after eating it, the higher the insulin as the beta cells of the pancreas gets stimulated and the more the fat that is build around your hump because of the combination. (High cellular glucose and  high insulin)
Exercise only mitigates the crime by trying to force more glucose into cells and hopefully decreasing the insulin.
Drugs like metformin will also lessen the bi partite fat accumulating power by giving you a smoother rise in insulin and therefore more sustained glucose suppression.

I could blame xeno estrogens in the plastic containers, the glycemic index of the cold drinks and the fast foods that come with it, but essentially it’s the ignorance of the majority of our population in expecting the health industry and the government to look after them.
Cook organic non processed food, no fast food.

It’s not in your doctor’s interest for you stay healthy (he gets paid when you get sick).
It is definitely not in the weight industry interest to maintain your figure.
Eat right, as the as the experts on the right of the blog advice, exercise moderate and the drugs you may need in ten years would have been taken in as micro nutrients in your diet and the disease avoided.
