Anorexia nervosa and potential Marijuana solution

It occurs basically in females in first world situations including South Africa who have altered self image, probably programmed by the media and expectations of the men around them.
It used to be European disease but Blacks didn’t take long to adopt the trend as their own, negative as it is.

I have a believe that it all has to do with genes as it’s almost not heard of to have anorexia nervosa in Somalia or Ethiopia. We probably could be missing them because they have no food to clinically evolve the disease anyway, we ascribe it to hunger and close the case.

The signs and symptoms are as follows

1) Obvious and dramatic weight loss.
2) Skewed impression of what obesity is, the person thin as she may be, walks sideways at the entrance because she is fat.
3) Information acquisition to avoid food at all levels including diet and cooking.
4) Bulimia (self induced vomiting) or use of laxatives to avoid absorption.
5) Obsession with caloric intake irrespective of the above.
6) Fear of gaining weight.
7) Frequent and strenuous exercise.
8) Depression.
9) Baggy clothes to hide the loot.

Thyroid function abnormalities including hypothermia, anemia, hypoglycemic episodes, menstrual abnormalities, (probably activated by leptin deficiency) swollen joints, abdominal distention and parotid gland enlargement.


It is surprising that marijuana would probably be a good treatment for such clients as it not only increases your appetite but relieves the depression as well. The active ingredient in the hemp, THC is blocked by leptin, the satiety hormone that has brought so much hope to weight industry. The inability of the THC to cause satiety if blocked by leptin combined with the mood elevation would be God sent if it works.

Marijuana has many benefits in medicine that we are not allowed to explore for reasons that we cannot comprehend. I have personally used it with great effect on patients with cancer and vomiting who are on chemotherapy when every legal drug has reached its limit.

We use it as tea so as the rest of the patients do not smell the smoke and ask for their share. If any patient with anorexia nervosa has self medicated with this and found it to be effective, I would like feedback.
