Doctors, Michael Jackson and Beauty

Michael Jackson might have had a beautiful voice, but his death possibly at the hands of a colleague on the media spotlight at the moment is as far from medical fundamentals and physiology as I am from performing a live stage thriller production.

If what we screen from the media is true, then his doctor is in a lot of hot water. Propofol and is equivalent to induction anesthesia. Presumed innocent unless you are found guilty by the court of law allows for too many variables; how much can you afford for the legal team, did your arresting officer read you your rights and such technicalities of democracy, but some issues are right or wrong irrespective of your magical powers.
In the medical world it should be as easy as asking whether the drug was given and where.

Medicine in America has always been complicated by too little control in the hope that malpractice legal teams would rope in the culprits.
Michael was many a child’s hero, but was abused by doctors multiple times because he had money to side step the requirements of medical aid schemes and yearning to be what should have been easily deemed impossible and childish, had he been South African.
He needed more psychological treatment than physical and should have been handled as such. I often tell my patients who want relief from vitiligo that if Michael Jackson could not cure it,nobody will irrespective of resources at hand.

The fact that we lost a hero makes us less tolerant of the accused than if it was Mike Tyson, but I hope we will still give him a chance to justify his actions of that day.
The money hungry families of the children who were being housed by Michael are not any less guilty than if one took a knife and slashed his carotid artery.
