Hemorrhoids or piles as we call them in plain English are very debilitating and costly to manage with very poor outcome in general medicine. The only solution until the discovery of our paste and go 100% treatment was surgery which is not only unacceptable to most (say pregnant women) but very painful if you choose the wrong surgeon.
Bloody underwear is the rule of the day and definitive surgery is not the solution either as the surgical aftermath is just as bloody because we don’t cover the bed from where we removed the veins, therefore leaving you dripping blood for sometimes up to fourteen days post op as part of the package, needing menstruation pads to avoid an embarrassing situation if you are not in a hot bath 24 hoursn a day.
The unfortunate part is hemorrhoids are very common. The reason we see less of them as doctors is the patient usually suffers for a long time not brave enough to confront the situation in a part of the body one usually wants to leave private and hidden. They would bleed, walk broad based and suffer unbearable pain before stuttering into a consultation room to express their concern. When they do all we can give is essentially pain relieve in the form of scheriproct suppositories. They don’t work, I know from 20 years experience working with those. If the veins happen to clot, your pain has just been amplified ten times.
When we finally do operate because conservative treatment doesn’t work, you have to do sitz baths after every toilet visit or three times per day which ever is most, to avoid sepsis. Time lost let alone the cost and lost income is forbidding. Recurrence which anatomically should not occur is possible as the veins regrow. Severe pain is common if the suture is not high enough.
The population affected most; pregnant women should not be operated as a general rule. The relevance of our paste and go 100% treatment becomes even more important. We don’t stratify or exclude some hemorrhoids because there is prolapse associated. We treat each one with the same result, 100% success rate in one day. The one complication we have is that the paste itches a bit as it gets to work but that should disappear in ten minutes. We advocate freedom from piles for all, as an addendum to the freedom charter. We would at least then claim one revolutionary call successfully delivered.
