Weight Loss your Goal, Loose the Scale and Hold on to your Tape.



It is not often that we advice you to loose the very standard that you are supposed to use in measuring your progress, but in this instance that is exactly what we saying.

Losing a lot of weight at the beginning can only lead to complications in the future. Biochemistry and physiology of health doesn’t allow for that. Weight loss is a balancing act and for it to be a life time process, physiology has to be maintained with very few deficiencies accumulated as one sheds the flab.

Loosing too much in kilogram mass is bound to be water or worse still muscle, thus making your weight loss schedule and sustenance even more difficult if not impossible. Dehydration is pathology whichever way you look at it. Myoglobinuria has given a few very fit sports people heart attacks from hyperkalemia, more so if you are dehydrated at the same time from not taking enough fluids during a possibly hot and dry day. It will also give you renal failure if you don’t succumb to your heart in the acute phase.

We are a health site and doctors before a shape or form site, therefore weight reduction at all costs has never been our slogan. The waistline centimetre measurement that ideally should be less than 35 inch for women and 40 for men is our gold standard. It is this measurement that is proportionally related to your morbidity and mortality rather than your scale per say.

Weight loss purpose is health before hourglass waistline and if we can’t deliver on that basic we are failing our purpose for the lifestyle change. Weight loss is for the lower rate of breast cancer associated with a slimmer figure, sleep apnoea and reflux esophogitis resolution, osteoarthritis and the lower rate of hypertension that is part of the package.

The idea is not to make you want to be shapely because you are afraid of dying of two hundred pathological results of being fat, so I will stop the list here, one should enjoy the attention that is usually reserved for the twenty year olds and sculpted teens of your yesteryear. The youth and age retarding effect of the fit and slim should ideally be the sole drivers of the mass exodus from the fast food drive-in queue into natural and unprocessed food stores of the informed few.
